As some of you may know, and others may not, I am so very interested in fitness and nutrition. In fact, I have plans to go back to school to become a registered dietician. I have been trying to get into teaching group exercise classes for awhile now, but with no luck.
Then, one day after my honeymoon I was the Group Exercise Coordinator at my gym (YMCA). I never run into her because I am always there in evening and she is during the day. Well, since school is out I was working out in the afternoon. I went up to her, introduced myself and asked her about any positions to teach Group Exercise (Group X); she had me fill out an application on the spot. Well, after a few weeks of constant communication with the Group X Coordinator, I had an interview yesterday and was hired on the spot! I am so pumped. I will be teaching a strength and endurance class, interval class, and a class for young girls that also contains a nutrition component.
Although this job will only be 4 hours a week; this job is all about opportunity. I am hoping that this job will just open doors for my future. I love fitness, I love nutrition, and childhood obesity is a strong interest of mine and such a sad epidemic in our country. I can't wait to see where this opportunity takes me. I am excited to get going, and to meet other people who are interested in the same things as me.
One other exciting thing about this job- my supervisor, the Group X coordinator is awesome! She, like me, is so enthralled by Tosca Reno and the Eat Clean Diet. We talked about it in our interview for about 30 minutes; I was pumped! She also has done fitness competitions, and was talking to me about doing one as well. That is something I have thought about before; maybe I will do one some day.... but after my full marathon, of course! :)
Life is good!
